TVAC is a charitable organization that does not engage in any income-generating activity. We are incorporated under the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (S.C. 2009, ch.23) and registered under the name : The Thalidomide Victims Association of Canada : 141051714RR0001.
TVAC conducts advocacy as well as educational and informational activities regarding thalidomide victims. We also offer support to our members. We organize national and regional conferences during which various activities such as workshops and talks on subjects regarding our members and aiming to promote their health and wellbeing are offered. Given our members’ needs for accommodation, the fact that we cover all of Canada, the required bilingualism of our communications and the vast mandate that our Association took upon itself, our operational expenses are considerably high.
The funding of our association’s activities depends largely on generous donations from the public and from our partners. TVAC’s activities make a significant difference in the lives of its members, victims of a tragedy that – it should be remembered – could have been avoided. This is the reason why we invite you to show your solidarity with thalidomide Survivors by making a donation to TVAC.
TVAC’s mandate also emcompasses advocacy for pharmacovigilance. We are currently developing talks and informational sessions directed towards students and professionals of the medical, legal and political fields to raise awareness about the importance of being extremely vigilant regarding drugs, especially those that can have teratogenic effects. Hence, your money will also be of great help to protect future generations from a tragedy such as thalidomide’s.
Your support can make all the difference!
We systematically issue an official tax receipt for donations of $ 20 or more. Upon request, we also issue such a receipt for donations of less than $ 20.
You can make a donation online via Canadahelps.org secured platform. The payment methods accepted are: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Visa Debit and Paypal.
